How to go live on YouTube from your Mac
8 October 2026
YouTube is the best place to go live for a big public audience: it's free, people can find you in search, and it keeps the replay. Here's how to do it with Snazzy Pro, which sends the same mix as your recordings (slides or screen, your camera and your mic) and keeps a copy on your Mac.
1. Get your stream key
In YouTube Studio, choose Create › Go live › Stream. Set the title, audience and visibility (Public, Unlisted or Private), and pick Ultra low-latency or Low-latency. Copy the Stream key.
2. Add it to Snazzy Pro, once
Open the Live tab › Go live online, choose YouTube and paste the key. It's saved in your Mac's Keychain and never shown again or sent anywhere except YouTube. The assistant never asks for it in chat.
3. Set up your picture
Choose your slides or a screen, and where your camera goes, or just say it:
Go live on YouTube with my slides and camera bottom-right.
Leave Also record to this Mac on to keep a full-quality copy.
4. Go live
Click Go Live on YouTube. Snazzy Pro shows what will be sent and asks first, because this is the one time your video leaves your Mac. In YouTube Studio you'll see the stream arrive within a few seconds.
Things to know
- Delay: viewers are about 2–5 seconds behind you in low-latency mode.
- Upload: 1080p needs about 6 Mbps of steady upload, 720p about 3.5 Mbps. If your connection can't keep up, Snazzy Pro lowers the quality and shows a warning. Choose 720p on busy Wi-Fi.
- Unlisted isn't private. Anyone with the link can watch. For a private group in the same building, use a live room instead.
- YouTube and LinkedIn at once: tick both destinations. Each needs its own upload.
Coming soon
- Sign in with YouTube: Snazzy Pro creates the live event for you, with title, description and a thumbnail from your first slide. No stream key to copy.
- Live chat on screen: see the chat in Snazzy Pro, and let the assistant pick out the questions for you to answer.
